Facebook’s Timeline shows the world your past since birth, if you choose – will you? Here are some things to think about first

WE ARE born, we live, we die – and now we can do it all on Facebook. The social network recently rolled out Timeline, a dramatic update to its profile pages that lists everything you have ever done on the site in reverse order, right back to your very first post. You can even recreate your past, posting “status updates” to fill out your Timeline from birth.

I am disturbed by this  - just as I am by most of what Facebook does. If it weren’t for certain friends I can’t seem to get anywhere else I’d leave it again in a  heartbeat

Disappointed if this is true. If so  will no longer be using Gowalla. Facebook getting hold of peoples location since their own service has failed miserably for me is frightening

The rumor mill is churning

We broke the story last month that something was amiss at Gowalla, that staff was disappearing and their resumes were showing up all over Austin where Gowalla and AGBeat are both headquartered. Now, there are rumors flying that Facebook has acquired Gowalla, but no terms have been released, and CNN cites “a source close to Gowalla” as their informant, but Facebook has not responded to our request for comment and Gowalla has told all news outsources that they “don’t comment on rumor and speculation.”

If the rumors are true, after only two years since it’s launch, Gowalla’s employees will move to Facebook’s headquarters in Palo Alto and focus on the Facebook Timeline feature. After struggling to nail their identity in the location-based services arms race, they departed from the Foursquare model some time back and rebranded as a travel guide, having to pivot in an effort to stay afloat and keep their investors that funneled $10.4 million into the promising startup happy.

I’m really not sure ;(

It  just makes me thing.. ‘not another one’.

Why ruin a perfectly good service?  I quite liked the fact that it wasn’t connected to everything else. (which is strange because you post once and it posts to everything else)

It was so simple and easy. Now I look at it and am really disappointed.

I haven’t got time to learn another load of changes.

Facebook drives me to the point of dispair with its constant changes.  I’m only their under duress to keep in touch with friends who can’t seem to pick up the phone or reply to an email.

Just no Posterous. no.

Wait – did Apple Patent “Spaces”?

A Visit to Eric Arthur Blair, a set on Flickr.

Went to visit George Orwell for his birthday.
Just down the road from me in Sutton Courtney churchyard where he rests in peace.

@documentally organised a yearly event where people can meet up, have a picnic and share our experiences.

It seems that every website I visit nowadays boasts its own Facebook like button. But what does this actually mean for someone visiting the site?
