Just saw this and had to share ;)

You can hide people from your Facebook News Feed, but that won’t stop Facebook from popping up elsewhere, constantly recommending that you view photos of your ex and his/her new flame. Here’s how to completely hide someone from Facebook.

Once of the current issues with Posterous is the lack of support for JavaScript. One way to add widgets to your site is to host the JavaScript on another site and display it on Posterous using an iframe. Some people don’t have the web space to host widgets, but not everyone realises that Dropbox can be used to host web pages.

Why oh why didnt i wait and see this before i started with WordPress

Have a little look in this folder …

MacintoshHD/System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras

I don't usually advise people to play in the System Folder unless you know what you are doing but…

If you go to the Go Menu and choose Go to Folder …
and paste this in..

/System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras

and click Go

It will open the folder for you without you having to go through the system to get to it

So what is in here then?

Well if you have a look you might get a little clue from the name of the files.

Try double – clicking on one and see what it does.

These are the little menus that appear at the top right hand side of the screen next to the Clock.
Some of these are on already by default and some may not be.

Some that may not be on by default are the Script Menu and the Ink Menu.
These two in themselves are worth putting up there.

The Script Menu gives a handy drop down folder structure of useful Scripts that you may not have known were available to you.

Ink is really funky and allows you to write anywhere if you have a graphics tablet- its the long lost handwriting recognition software from the Newton, quietly still being developed. I wonder if it will work with the new Apple Magic Trackpad

If you hold down the Apple Key (cmd) you can drag items to rearrange them or completely off the menu bar if you no longer want them there. (they'll disappear in the adorable puff of animated smoke).

Equally if you have accidentally dragged them off you can go to the folder here and put them back.

Ok firstly if you have a Mac have you setup your right hand mouse ‘key’ ?

(if you have one that is – all mighty and magic mice do – you can always plug in cheap pc mouse and it will work too)

* This right hand mouse key is not on by default

Switch it on under Apple Menu/System Prefs/Mouse

On the diagram you will see that the right hand side little menu shows Primary by default.
Click to change it to Secondary.

Ok?
If you haven’t seen this before you are now able to right click on things and you will notice that you get lots of useful pop up menus with different useful options (dependant one what you click on)

- like cut copy and paste, and compress file, move to trash etc.

* If you don’t have a 2 button mouse you can experience all this by holding down the CTRL key while you left click

Ok so where does the ALT key come in?

Well while you are right clicking and you have the menu popped up – click on the ALT key and watch the options change.

In Finder:

‘Open with’ changes to ‘Always open with”
‘Get info’ changes to ‘Show Inspector

You can also use the ALT key in menus

On portable Macs, holding ALT when clicking on the Battery Menu (set it to view TIME) will tell you the condition of the battery.

On the keyboard:

Hold down ALT and click on the Brightness buttons (F1 and F2 on my extended) – this opens the Display System Preference

ALT + F3  opens Expose preferences

ALT + F10 opens the Volume Preferences

Experiment and see what else you can find ;)
